It can be set very quickly, both forwards and backwards, thanks to a mechanism that allows the hour hand to be adjusted independently in one-hour increments, so that changing the local hour does not affect the minute or seconds hands or the reference time.

Local time is indicated by the conventional centre hour, minute and seconds hands.
